Options alert services come in three flavors, and people often buy the wrong one. Alert-only services text you a ticker, strike and expiry. Live trading rooms let you watch a trader work in real time and ask questions. Software and analytics help you find your own trades. I’ve put the main options side by side, including ours, so you can see which flavor you’re actually paying for.
The short version: for the cheapest alerts, SPY Options Traders ($49/mo) and Mindful Trader ($47/mo) are the entry points. For a live room with a named lead trader and text alerts, our Options Live Trading Room ($792/qtr after a free two-week trial) and Simpler Trading ($247/mo) are the main choices. For automation, Option Alpha ($149/mo, or free through some brokers) is the standout.

Which type should you pick?
Alert-only (SPY Options Traders, Mindful Trader, Benzinga, Stock Option Alerts)
Cheapest, and fine if you already understand options and just want ideas. The weakness is that a text can’t tell you why, or what to do when the trade goes against you. Ask how alerts are timed and whether exits are alerted too.
Live trading room (our Options Room, Simpler Trading)
You watch the trade happen, hear the reasoning, and can ask questions. This is the fastest way to learn, and text alerts are usually included so you don’t have to sit in the room all day. It costs more because there is a real trader on the other end. Our room is led by David Wyse and you can sit in for two weeks free before deciding.
Software and automation (SPY Super System, Option Alpha, Market Chameleon)
You’re paying for a repeatable method rather than someone else’s calls. Option Alpha runs your rules as bots. Market Chameleon is pure research. Our SPY Super System bundles the software with the live room and a course, and we install it for you, which is why it is a one-time price rather than a subscription.
Questions to ask any options alert service
- Is there a free or low-cost trial? If not, why not?
- Are exits alerted, or only entries?
- Can you see the trader live, or only the results afterward?
- What is the refund policy, in writing?
- Does the service explain the reasoning, so you eventually don’t need it?
Frequently asked questions
What is the best options alert service?
It depends on what you want. For low-cost alerts, SPY Options Traders ($49/mo) and Mindful Trader ($47/mo) are the entry points. For a live room with text alerts, Right Line Trading’s Options Live Trading Room ($792/qtr with a free 2-week trial) and Simpler Trading ($247/mo) are the main choices. For automation, Option Alpha.
Are options alert services worth it?
They can be, if you use them to learn a method rather than blindly copy trades. No alert service can guarantee profits, and options can lose their entire value. Start with a trial and paper-trade the alerts first.
What is the difference between an options alert service and a live trading room?
An alert service sends you trade ideas by text, Discord or email. A live trading room lets you watch a trader in real time, hear the reasoning and ask questions, and usually includes alerts as well.
Does Right Line Trading offer a free trial of its options room?
Yes. The Options Live Trading Room with text alerts includes a free two-week trial, after which it is $792 per quarter.
